Every year, the Northeast Texas Debate Association holds its state championships, a tournament which students from all over the state qualify to attend by placing in the top six at one of a series of qualifying tournaments at member schools. The top three winners in each event receive scholarships upon graduation from high school.
This year, North Lamar High School students came home with over $1000 in scholarship funds. Place were:
Colin Hodgkiss and Zach Huffman, 1st in CX Debate
Colin Hodgkiss, top speaker in CX Debate and 3rd in Persuasive Speaking;
Zach Huffman, 5th in Informative Speaking
Bailey Fowler, 6th in Poetry Interpretation
Katie Hodgkiss and Mason Remaley, quarter finalists in CX debate
Garrett Holzwarth and Julian Tellez, quarter finalists in CX debate
