North Lamar Senior Roselyn Spencer Signs With Harding University

 

Paris, Texas – Surrounded by family, friends, and coaches, North Lamar High School senior Roselyn Spencer signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. The signing occurred on Friday, March 21, at the North Lamar Athletic Facility.

Roselyn Spencer, daughter of Clint and Rachel Spencer, will join Harding University’s Track and field team while pursuing a degree in Medical Humanities. Her grandparents—Roger and Vicki Guess and Jay and Gay Spencer—and her siblings, Nolan and Marion Spencer, proudly attended to witness this special milestone.

“Playing sports at North Lamar has been such a shaping experience in my life,” said Roselyn. I’ve had many amazing teammates and coaches who have supported and encouraged me to do things I didn’t even know were possible. I love the high standard that the coaches set for girls’ athletics. Being a Pantherette has helped me develop a strong work ethic, grow in determination, and have fun while competing.

North Lamar Track and Conditioning Coach Patrick Watkins praised Roselyn’s dedication and drive. Roselyn is part of the one percent of elite athletes who go on to compete at the next level,” Watkins said. “She has the ability, aspiration, and mindset to achieve anything she sets her mind to, and we can’t wait to see where she lands—the sky’s the limit.”

With heartfelt gratitude, Roselyn expressed her appreciation for those who have helped shape her journey. “I’m incredibly grateful to God for this opportunity and the ability to glorify Him through sports. I want to thank my friends and teammates for making this journey enjoyable and my coaches for their unwavering support and belief in me. I want to extend a special thank you to my mom for always supporting me and capturing the moments and to my dad for always believing in my potential. His constant encouragement has helped shape me into the person I am today.

Roselyn also advised younger athletes at North Lamar: “Believe in yourself and the power of hard work and improvement. Don’t let discouragement or mental limits hold you back. Sometimes, you’ll have to do more than those around you, but it’s worth it if you want to succeed.”

North Lamar ISD celebrates Roselyn Spencer’s achievements and wishes her continued success at Harding University—both on the track and in the classroom.

La firma se produjo el viernes 21 de marzo en el North Lamar Athletic Facility.

Roselyn Spencer, hija de Clint y Rachel Spencer, se unirá al equipo de atletismo de la Universidad de Harding mientras busca obtener un título en Humanidades Médicas. Sus abuelos, Roger y Vicki Guess y Jay y Gay Spencer, y sus hermanos, Nolan y Marion Spencer, asistieron con orgullo para presenciar este hito especial.

“Practicar deportes en North Lamar ha sido una experiencia muy enriquecedora en mi vida”, dijo Roselyn. He tenido muchos compañeros de equipo y entrenadores increíbles que me han apoyado y alentado a hacer cosas que ni siquiera sabía que eran posibles. Me encanta el alto estándar que los entrenadores establecen para el atletismo femenino. Ser una Pantherette me ha ayudado a desarrollar una fuerte ética de trabajo, crecer en determinación y divertirme mientras compito.

El entrenador de atletismo y acondicionamiento de North Lamar, Patrick Watkins, elogió la dedicación y el impulso de Roselyn. Roselyn es parte del uno por ciento de los atletas de élite que compiten en el siguiente nivel”, dijo Watkins. “Ella tiene la capacidad, la aspiración y la mentalidad para lograr cualquier cosa que se proponga, y no podemos esperar a ver dónde aterriza: el cielo es el límite”.

Con sincera gratitud, Roselyn expresó su agradecimiento a aquellos que han ayudado a dar forma a su viaje. “Estoy increíblemente agradecido con Dios por esta oportunidad y la capacidad de glorificarlo a través del deporte. Quiero agradecer a mis amigos y compañeros de equipo por hacer que este viaje sea agradable y a mis entrenadores por su apoyo inquebrantable y su fe en mí. Tengo un agradecimiento especial a mi mamá por siempre apoyarme y capturar los momentos y a mi papá por creer siempre en mi potencial. Su constante aliento me ha ayudado a convertirme en la persona que soy hoy.

Roselyn también aconsejó a los atletas más jóvenes de North Lamar: “Cree en ti mismo y en el poder del trabajo duro y la mejora. No dejes que el desánimo o los límites mentales te detengan. A veces, tendrás que hacer más que los que te rodean, pero vale la pena si quieres tener éxito”.

North Lamar ISD celebra los logros de Roselyn Spencer y le desea que continúe teniendo éxito en Harding University, tanto en la pista como en el salón de clases.
