Friday, November 11 marks the anniversary of the end of World War I and honors United States veterans and victims of all wars.  This public holiday will be celebrated at North Lamar Independent School District and invites all veterans, active military personnel, and community members to attend.

On Thursday, November 10, Aaron Parker Elementary will honor veterans at an annual Veterans Day program beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the gym.  The keynote speaker will be Dr. Mark Gibbons.  Students will honor all those who have served in the military in a pinning ceremony.  Following the program, veterans and guests are invited to stay for a Thanksgiving lunch that will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Parents and grandparents may also enjoy accompanying their child or grandchild to the book fair that will be held in the library.

Then on Friday, November 11, North Lamar High School will have a coffee reception for veterans and guests at 8:00 a.m. in the NLHS library followed by a patriotic program in the gym at 9:00 a.m.  Keynote speaker will be Russell Hicks.  The award winning NLHS band and choir will perform selections depicting our country’s pride and loyalty.  Beta students will honor those men and women who have served or currently serve in our armed forces.
