Northeast Texas Death Row Inmate Loses Federal Appeal

A Northeast Texas man on death row for 17 years for strangling his girlfriend in Hopkins County has lost his appeal to the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals. Daniel Clate Acker, 45, was condemned for the murder of 32-year-old Marquetta George of Sulphur Springs in March of 2000. Acker maintains that he is not guilty and claimed the original trial court erroneously excluded evidence of his innocence.
