PARIS—Texas Department of Transportation officials announced that the project to expand the Northeast Texas Trail eastward in Red River County will begin Aug. 19.
The contractor, CDM Holdings, was granted 204 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $2.5 million. The contractor anticipates setting barricades on August 16 and starting work on August 19, 2024. The target completion date for this project is June 11, 2025.
The contractor will construct a 10-foot-wide shared-use recreation path with pedestrian enhancements from BU 82J in Clarksville, Texas, to the east city limits of Annona, Texas. The majority of the construction work will take place off of streets and highways, but officials said those who travel frequently in this area should watch for contractor vehicles entering and exiting the trail and at streets that cross the Northeast Texas Trail.
Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls, and signs and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions like cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
