Eagle Softball Takes Down Hill College

Peyton Holland drove four runs on two hits to lead NTCC Softball 2025 past Hill College Rebels 12-0 on Monday. Holland hit a home run to center field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the second inning, scoring one.

NTCC Softball 2025 got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after a pitch struck Kyndal Yaross, and Hope Grant hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

NTCC Softball 2025 added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Preslielyn Barraza tripled to center field, Megan Allen singled to center field, Holland doubled down the left field line, and Mya Bradshaw hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

NTCC Softball 2025 added six more runs in the bottom of the third inning on six hits. Shae Stone homered to center field, scoring two runs; Holland homered to center field, scoring three runs; and Taylor Gouge singled, scoring one run.

Casey Jones stepped in the circle first for NTCC Softball 2025. The southpaw allowed zero hits and runs over three innings, striking out three and walking three. Gracie stepped into the circle first for Hill College. The hurler surrendered 10 hits and 10 runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking four. Conlee Zachry threw two innings of scoreless ball for NTCC Softball 2025 in relief. The pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out five and walking two.

NTCC Softball 2025 accumulated 11 hits in the game. Allen, Barraza, and Holland each collected two hits for NTCC Softball 2025. Bradshaw paced NTCC Softball 2025 with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting four walks for the game. NTCC Softball 2025 stole seven bases in the game. NTCC Softball 2025 turned into one double play in the game.

Hill College Rebels had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. Hill College Rebels were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Kayla had the most chances. Eagles win 12-0 in 5 for Game 1, with a no-hitter combined Casey Jones and Conlee Zachary.

Hill College Rebels opened the scoring in the first after Kayla singled, scoring one run.

NTCC Softball 2025 took the lead in the bottom of the first. Paislee Clark doubled, scoring two runs and giving NTCC the upper hand, 2-1.

Hill College Rebels took the lead in the top of the second inning after NTCC Softball 2025 committed an error. Rebekah grounded out, and Mia grounded out, each scoring one run.

NTCC Softball 2025 tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a ground out by Taylor Gouge and a double by Megan Allen.

In the bottom of the third, NTCC Softball 2025 broke the tie when an error scored one run. Then, a ground-out by Preslielyn Barraza followed, extending the lead to 6-4.

Mia homered to center field, which helped Hill College Rebels tie the game at six in the top of the fourth.

In the bottom of the fourth, NTCC Softball 2025 broke up the tie when Fincannon doubled, scoring one run. Then, a home run to left field by Sawyer Strange followed to extend the lead.

Allen, Clark, Strange, Finncannon, Gouge, and Conlee Zachry collected one hit for NTCC Softball 2025. Clark and Strange each drove in two runs for NTCC Softball 2025. Holland paced NTCC Softball 2025 with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Allen, Holland, and Zachry each stole multiple bases for NTCC Softball 2025. NTCC ran wild on the base paths, piling up nine stolen bases for the game.

Eagle Baseball Sweeps Season Opening Series

Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) hosted North Central Texas College (NCTC) in a three-game series and came away with a sweep of the Lions. In game one, the Eagles combined for a two-pitcher no-hitter in a 10-0 win, and on day 2, they had back-to-back 6-5 wins to complete the series sweep.

In Game 1 on Saturday, NTCC sent Aiden Leonard (Kaplan, LA) to the mound for a start. Leonard would pitch four innings with no hits and four strikeouts before handing the ball over to Mason Nguyen (Mansfield, TX) for the fifth and final inning. In his one inning, Nguyen would have two strikeouts to finish the 10-0 win for the Eagles.

Offensively, in Game 1 of the series, the Eagles were led by Luke Regas (Waxahachie, TX), who went three for four with four runs batted in (RBIs). Braden Duff (Mount Pleasant, TX) would also have a two-hit game to help pace the Eagles offense.

Day two of the series saw excellent weather for the Eagles to battle NCTC for 6-5 wins. In the first game of the day on Saturday, the Eagles and Lions would go back and forth on the scoreboard, but NTCC would ultimately take the lead in the fifth inning to hold on for the win in the seven-inning affair.

Clark Scallon (Buda, TX) would take the mound in game two of the series and go two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out three. Gary Rondeau (Haughton, LA) would replace Scallon and pitch one and two-thirds innings. Kyler Mirtello (Sioux Falls, SD) would see some time on the mound before handing the ball over to Cooper Schwank (Richmond, TX), who would pick up the win with his one-inning work in the sixth inning. Ayden Terry (Lavon, TX) would close out the seventh inning with two strikeouts to seal the 6-5 win.

Braden Duff continued his hot bat from the first game of the series and went two for three with a run scored to help the Eagles defeat the Lions.

The series’ final game also saw the Eagles and Lions battle it out to a 6-5 score, with the Eagles completing the sweep of NCTC to open the season with three wins and no losses.

Both teams would score two runs each in the first inning to start Game 3 tied at 2-2 after one. Neither squad would plate runs in the second, and NCTC took a brief lead in the third when they plated a run off the ground out to shortstop and then an error on the next play. The 4-2 lead was cut into by the Eagles in the bottom of the third when Ayden Terry would single and later score Cooper Schock (Chandler, TX) singled to cut the lead to 4-3 Lions.

Both teams would go scoreless in the fourth inning, and the Eagles kept the Lions off the board in the top of the fifth before tacking on three runs to put the game away. Luke Nohinek would pinch hit and single to right to score two runs to move the Eagles in front. Paul Samaripa (Hutton, TX) would draw a walk and score on a wild pitch to put NTCC up 6-4.

NCTC would try to make a comeback in the sixth inning with a solo home run to cut the score to 6-5 but could not manufacture any more runs in the sixth or seventh inning.

The Eagles will host Eastern Oklahoma on Wednesday, February 5, at 1:00 pm in a single nine-inning game. Dr. Ron Clinton, NTCC President, will throw out the first pitch at 12:45 pm.
