Eagle Baseball Defeats Eastern Oklahoma State College

Northeast Texas Community College Eagles hosted Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers on Wednesday, February 5, in a non-conference matchup. In the nine-inning game, the Eagles defeated the Mountaineers 4-3.

Before the game, Dr. Ron Clinton threw out the first pitch, and the Eagle Baseball team presented Dr. Clinton with a signed game ball.

NTCC got on the board in the first inning with a three-run first inning to set the pace for the game. Jake Farris (Lafayette, LA) would reach on a bunt single to start the game. Boston Seahorn (Big Sandy, TX) would move Farris to second with a base hit himself. A passed ball would advance both runners to put runners on second and third with no outs. First baseman Jonathon Gonzalez (Kyle, TX) would draw a walk to load the bases. A ground-out double play would score Farris to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Braden Duff (Mount Pleasant, TX) would reach on an error and plate Seahorn for the second run. Dereck Martinez would force an error by the Centerfielder to score Duff to make the score 3-0 Eagles after one inning of play.

In the Eagle half of the second, Camden Breaux (Abbeville, LA) would single and later score on a Sacrifice Fly by Gonzalez. The score would remain 4-0 until Eastern Oklahoma tried to mount a comeback in the top of the ninth, but would fall short 4-3.

Seahorn led the Eagles offense with a two-for-three day with a run scored.

On the mound for the Eagles, Coach Andy Morgan would get work from multiple pitchers in the non-conference mid-week matchup. Manson Nguyen (Mansfield, TX) would pick up the win with two innings of work, allowing just one hit and striking out three. Cameron Leslie (Watauga, TX) would pick up the save on two pitches, getting the final batter to fly out to shortstop.

The NTCC pitching staff combined to strike out thirteen batters on the day.

The Eagles will host Cowley College out of Kansas with two games on Friday, February 7, and a single game on Saturday, February 8.

NTCC Softball 2025 Grabs Lead Late for Victory Over NCTC Lions

NTCC Softball 2025 bested NCTC Lions 3-2 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. NTCC Softball 2025 was down 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning when Sawyer Strange doubled, scoring two runs.
The pitching was strong on both sides. NTCC Softball 2025 pitchers struck out five, while NCTC Lions sat down four.

NCTC Lions got on the board in the third inning after an error scored one run.
Morgan Hill singled to center field, which helped NTCC Softball 2025 tie the game at one in the top of the fourth.
A double by Abby Baglin gave NCTC Lions the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth.

Kiersten Finncannon began the game for NTCC Softball 2025. The right-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. No. 8 stepped in the circle first for NCTC Lions. The pitcher allowed zero hits and runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking one.

Strange led NTCC Softball 2025 with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Megan Allen led NTCC Softball 2025 with two hits in four at-bats.

Game 2 vs. NCTC win – 7-5

NTCC Softball 2025 Grabs Lead Late For Victory Over NCTC Lions

NTCC Softball 2025 bested NCTC Lions 7-5 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at five in the top of the sixth when Morgan Hill scored after tagging up.
NTCC Softball 2025 got on the board in the top of the first inning after Peyton Holland doubled to left field, Conlee Zachry doubled to left field, and Hope Grant singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Nayani Brown doubled to center field, which helped NCTC Lions tie the game at three in the bottom of the second.

In the bottom of the third, NCTC Lions broke the tie when Abriana Coy doubled, scoring one run. Then, a single by Riley Lee followed, extending the lead to 5-3.
NTCC Softball 2025 scored 7-5 in the top of the sixth after Emma Peeples singled, scoring one run, and Hill scored after tagging up.

Casey Jones pitched four innings in relief for NTCC Softball 2025. The reliever gave up two hits and zero runs while striking out none and walking one. Zachry stepped in the circle first for NTCC Softball 2025. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and five runs over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three.
Grant, Sarai Cruz-Camacho, and Peeples each collected two hits for NTCC Softball 2025. Cruz-Camacho went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two batted-in runs. Cruz-Camacho stole two bases. NTCC Softball 2025 stole four bases in the game.

Brown led NCTC Lions with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Faith R went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead NCTC Lions in hits. Sydney Crouthers led NCTC Lions with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing four walks for the game. NCTC Lions turned one double play in the game.

Eagles travel to Eastern Oklahoma on Saturday for their DH to close the week.
