Omaha Man Charged With Hughes Springs Burglary

Russel Wayne Gilmore

Upshur County authorities arrested Russel Wayne Gilmore, 40, of Omaha, as the suspect in connection with a laundromat burglary in Hughes Springs that turned into arson in December of 2021.

Chief Randy Kennedy reports that Gilmore is in the Upshur County Jail on charges of burglary of a building in Bowie County, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information of fewer than five items. There is no bond amount set for the Bowie County charge, and Gilmore’s total bond amount for the other two is $100,000.

Gilmore is one of two suspects in the case. According to a previous East Texas News story, Gilmore and another person tried to break into the office at The Wash-Tub Laundromat at about 3:00 am. One of the suspects looked like he was there doing laundry.
