Last night at approximately 10:10 pm, Troopers responded to a one-vehicle fatal crash on FM-747 in Cherokee County, southwest of Jacksonville. Preliminary crash investigators report indicates a 1996 Ford Ranger driven by 74-year-old Edward Wilbanks of Jacksonville, was traveling southwest on FM-747 when the vehicle went off the roadway in a curve. The driver overcorrected and ran back across the roadway and struck a pole, coming to rest in a ditch on the south side of the roadway. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by JP Phillip Grimes. Wilbanks’ body was taken to Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
