From Wood County Sheriff Jim Brown

On Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at approximately 5:27 PM the Wood County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported four-wheeler accident involving a possible fatality.  Upon arrival at 3672 East State Hwy 154, east of Quitman, deputies found that Michelle Hagger, a white female, age 52, was injured when the four-wheeler on which she was riding flipped over causing her to fall off the vehicle breaking her neck.  At the time of the incident the four wheeler steered by Michelle Hager was being towed by another vehicle driven by Ted Morris, Sr., a white male, age 57. Ms. Hagger was transported to the Quitman hospital by EMS where she was pronounced dead by Judge Tony Gilbreath. Sheriff’s investigators determined that Mr. Morris had been drinking at the time of the incident and a search warrant was obtained for a blood alcohol sample.  As a result Mr. Morris was arrested and booked into the Wood County Jail on the charge of “Manslaughter”.
