Pantherettes Finish Second Plus Rangers Sweep Mariners

Paris – The Texas High School Softball State Finals took place over the weekend with the North Lamar Pantherette’s finishing the season as the Class 4A Runner-Up after falling to La Grance 8-1. North Lamar softball finished their season with an overall record of 29-8 and went 11-3 in the post season. In other classifications, Shiner wins the 2A title in a 13-0 no hitter over Windthorst. In Class 3A West shuts out Colorado City 11-0. In Class 5A, Birdville defeated Gregory-Portland 8-7. And at Class 6A Keller blanks Pearland 5-0.

Mount Pleasant & Sulphur Springs – The Texas High School Softball State Finals took place over the weekend at the University of Texas at Austin. In Class 2A, Shiner wins in a 13-0 no hitter over Windthorst. In Class 3A West shuts out Colorado City 11-0. The North Lamar Pantherette’s out of Paris, Texas ended their season as the Class 4A Runner-Up after falling to La Grange 8-1. In Class 5A, Birdville defeated Gregory-Portland 8-7. The State Playoffs begin this weekend for high school baseball. The tournament will feature a pair of East Texas teams. Pleasant Grove out of district 15-4A and Whitehouse from 16-5A.

Yesterday afternoon the Texas Rangers beat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 to complete a weekend sweep of an AL West Rival. Derek Holland picked up the win on the mound. Holland went seven innings giving up two runs on only three hits and striking out six. The Rangers are 34-22 on the season and sit alone in first place in the AL West. Next, Texas will host the Houston Astros for four games starting tonight [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm]. First pitch is at 7:05pm Central Time.

Last night in the NBA Finals the Golden State Warriors throttle Cleveland 110-77. Forward Draymond Green led the way for Golden State, who now holds a commanding 2-0 series lead. The two teams now head to Cleveland for game three on Wednesday.

And in the Stanley Cup Finals the San Jose Sharks win game three over the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in overtime. However, Pittsburgh still holds a 2-1 series lead. Game four tonight in San Jose is set for 7pm.
