The Paris City Council has unanimously named Thomas McGonigle the new Fire Chief. He’s been serving as interim-chief since former Chief Larry Wright announced his retirement. Yesterday was Wright’s last day on the job. City Manager Grayson Path, who interviewed 15 people for the job out of a field of 43 applicants, recommended McGonigle for the position.
The Paris City Council has voted for a raised median on Lamar Avenue. The council also approved several closing crossovers on NE Loop 286. Members also voted to approve an audit for a $24 million utility project. The board met in executive session with an investor concerning a possible downtown economic development agreement.
