Paris police responded to a call in the 1300 block of Pine Bluff St. to assist EMS and learned that a 4 month old infant’s father had intentionally given the baby gasoline to drink. The suspect, 24-year-old Edgar James Bridgemon fled the scene on foot but an officer captured him about a block away. He admitted he had given the infant gasoline to drink with the intention of ending the child’s life. Bridgemon was charged with Attempted Capital Murder. The baby was transported to Paris Regional Health, and later transferred to a hospital in the metroplex. The case remains under investigation.
