It is playing out to be another banner year for the students and coaches in the Paris ISD Future Problem Solving Program. Seventy-three students in grades five through twelve are heading to the FPS State Bowl in San Marcus, Texas, April 15–17.

In Team Problem Solving, ten teams in the Senior Division (grades 10-12), three in the Middle Division (grades 7-9), and three in the Junior Division (grades 4-6) won bids to compete. Two students will compete in Individual Problem Solving—one in the Senior Division and one in the Middle Division.

State winners named in Scenario Writing. Zain Syed placed 2nd in the Senior Division, Miracle Valenzuela, and Mikaila Rogers placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the Middle Division, and Hana Syed and Davis Green placed 1st and 2nd in the Junior Division. Each of these students will present a Movie Trailer and a Story Board about their Scenario at the State Bowl. All five scenes advance to International Competition at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, June 1-5, and the students will represent Texas throughout the Competition.

Community Problem Solving state winners have been selected to advance to International Competition. Ava Lassiter’s Individual Project Heart to Heart is the Texas Junior Division Grand Champion. The Team Project Smile is the Senior Division At-Large Champion.

Congratulations and good luck to all student participants and coaches Sandra Strom, Janet Dickey, Angie Black, Jill Stone, Kathryn Jones, and Debb Fleming.
