Paris ISD Sweeps Lamar Soil and Water Conservation District Poster and Essay Contest

Paris ISD students swept the annual Lamar County Soil and Water Conservation District (LSWCD) Poster and Essay Contest. All winning essays and posters are submitted for judging at the regional level.

In the essay contest, Paris High School sophomore Zain Syed and senior Maggie Maxwell won 1st and 2nd place respectively (ages 14-18 Division) and received $125 and $75. Crockett Intermediate School 6th graders Hana Syed and Davis Green won 1st and 2nd place respectively (ages 13 and under division) and received $65 and $35. This year’s essay theme was How Soil and Water Conservation Helps Feed the World.

The poster contest featured the theme: “Local Heroes – Your Hardworking Pollinators.” Lilly Salazar and Laura Torres (Justiss 4th graders) placed 1st and 2nd and Chase Lamb (Aikin 4th-grader) placed 3rd in the 4th—6th-grade contest. They received $50, $30, and $20 respectively. Areli Hernandez and Melissa Streety (Justiss 3rd graders) and Miranda Hernandez (Justiss 2nd-grader) were chosen as the first, second, and third place winners of the 1st—3rd-grade contest. They received $50, $30, and $20 respectively.
