Paris’ May Election To Include Occupancy Tax Measure

In addition to city council and school board elections on May 4, Paris voters will decide on whether to approve a two-cent increase to the hotel-motel occupancy tax. If the measure is approved, money raised by the increase will go towards a $1.5-million improvement project at Love Civic Center. Before the issue can go on the ballot, however, the state comptroller must certify that the tax will not negatively impact state revenue.
