Paris Officers On Leave After Fatal Shooting Back On Duty

The two Paris Police Officers placed on administrative leave after an officer-involved shooting on January 23 have returned to duty status. Reportedly, 30-year-old James Lewis Mathis, III, displayed two large knives in a threatening manner towards the officers and refused to drop the weapons. Texas Rangers are leading the investigation into the incident. The Paris News is waiting to hear back on an Open Records request for dashcam and bodycam video, or the incident.
