Paris Police Report For Friday (Jan 28)

Michael Dwayne Hughes

Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 900-block of E. Hickory Thursday afternoon at 4:07 due to the license plate returning as stolen out of Red River County. The driver, Michael Dwayne Hughes, 55, of Paris, had multiple warrants. Hughes had an outstanding felony warrant out of Red River County for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, one from Hunt County charging him with driving while intoxicated, and four Paris Municipal Court warrants. Officers arrested Hughes and transferred him to the Lamar County Jail.

Wesley Leon Smith

Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 3100-block of Lamar Thursday night at 11:52 for a defective headlight violation. The driver, Wesley Leon Smith, 38, of Paris, had possession of methamphetamine and attempted to swallow the narcotics. Officers recovered the drugs and charged Smith with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. They transferred him to the Lamar County Jail. His passenger had outstanding traffic warrants.

Paris Police responded to 73 calls for service and arrested four people on Thursday (Jan 27).
