On Thursday morning at 7:34, a victim in the 1400 block of NE 26th Street stated to a Paris Officer that he believed that his black Taurus G2C handgun with a GmConn light-laser was stolen from his residence last week, but he just noticed it missing. They could not find any forced entry into the residence. Police took a State Jail Felony-Theft of a Firearm report, and they entered the handgun, valued at $200, into NCIC-TCIC.
Thursday afternoon at 2:47, an enhance to State Jail Felony-Theft of Property less than $2,500 with two or more convictions report was taken in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue. It came after a 62-year-old female rolled a buggy full of food and clothing items and a tabletop scarecrow, totaling $121.77, out of the store without paying. Officers recovered the items and did not arrest the female due to medical concerns. They will present the case to the District Attorney’s Office for a warrant.
Paris Detective and a Paris Patrol Officer Thursday afternoon went to the 1200 block of SW 19th Street. They placed Benjamin James Hensley, 36, under arrest on a second-degree Felony-Indecency With a Child Sexual Contact Warrant, resulting from an investigation of an incident reported last month in August. They booked Hensley into the Paris Jail.
Thursday at 4:27 pm, a victim met with a Community Service Officer in the department’s lobby to report Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse. The victim had dropped her debit card in the 3500 block of Lamar Avenue area and began receiving text alerts from her bank advising her of a successful $41 transaction at Murphy USA. Someone attempted a $313.93 transaction at Hibbett Sports, but the bank denied it. Police will further the investigation.
Thursday evening at 6:15, a Paris Officer worked a Burglary of a Residence at 394 County Road 33900 and contacted the victim. Someone had broken into his residence and stolen his $200 46″ Sanyo Television and two black semi-auto paintball guns, valued at $120 each. They possibly gained entry through a kitchen window. Officers lifted fingerprints for evidence.
A Paris Officer was patrolling in the 1000 block of East Washington Street on Thursday night at 9:16. He observed a male subject walking in a highly drug-trafficked area and initiated a consensual encounter. The subject identified himself as Carl Daniel White, 41. White advised the officer that he had a loaded methamphetamine syringe in his pants pocket. The officer secured the syringe and placed White under arrest for State Jail Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance-Meth and booked him into the Paris Jail.
On Thursday, September 5, the Paris Police Department responded to 74 Calls for Service, arrested four adults, and initiated five Traffic Stops.
