Officers responded to 520 Booker T. Washington Homes regarding a report of a car being stolen at gunpoint around 9:00 pm Saturday. The victim reported three men approached him while one pointed a gun at him, taking his vehicle and wallet. Officers relayed the information regarding the stolen vehicle and a suspect vehicle involved to area officers. Constable Steve Hill spotted both on FM 79 traveling at a high rate of speed. The constable, Lamar County Deputies, and Paris Police stopped the vehicles around Lake Gibbons area, recovered the stolen vehicle, a gun, and marijuana in the stop. They arrested Lee Edward Morris, 39, Garrett Michael Morris, 19, and Zamontra Quavon Morris, 20, all of Paris. All three men are presently charged with aggravated robbery. Garrett Morris was additionally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and Lee Morris was found to have an outstanding parole violation warrant. All three were later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
Elbert Luke Evans
Paris Police arrested Elbert Luke Evans, 35, of Paris, last Friday at his residence in the 200-block of W Austin on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated sexual assault of a child. The warrant stemmed from an earlier investigation. Evans was booked and later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to a fraud call last Saturday after a female had attempted to pay for a pack of cigarettes with a counterfeit $100 bill. The clerk refused to take the money, and the suspect left the scene. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police responded to a burglary of a residence in the 200-block of NW 3rd Sunday morning. It was reported that someone had broken a window to gain access to the house. Once inside, several electronics were stolen from the residence. The investigation continues.
