Paris Police Report For Monday (Jan 23)

Jason Scott Preusse

Paris Police responded to a welfare concern in the 3200 block of N. Main Saturday night at 8:48. The caller reported that a man was asleep in a vehicle. Officers made contact with Jason Scott Preusse, 43, observed drug paraphernalia in the car, and searched it. Preusse possessed more than one but less than four grams of methamphetamine, and officers arrested and placed him in the Lamar County Jail.

Dorothy Thacker Sims

Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 10-block of W. Washington Saturday night at 11:02 for a vehicle registration violation. The driver, Dorothy Thacker Sims, 53, of Paris, had numerous Municipal Court warrants. As the officer arrested Sims, he observed her attempting to give the passenger a prescription pill bottle without a label. The bottle contained eight Hydrocodone pills. They charged Sims with possession of a controlled substance of more than four grams; she was awaiting transfer to the Lamar County Jail.

Misty Joyce Smith

In the 2400 block of Highland Rd., police received a report that someone had burglarized a residence at 9:32 Sunday night. The victim reported that Misty Joyce Smith, 24, of Powderly, came to the home earlier and walked in through the back door. Smith asked to use the bathroom and was there longer than she should have been. After Smith left, the victim discovered five earrings missing from the bathroom. The victim also found that someone had broken into the backyard shop and stolen a 2011 white Dodge Nitro vehicle.

Rona Shae Avance

Sunday night at 11:29 officer worked a security check in the 1000 block of E. Washington St. Police arrived and noticed the white Dodge Nitro vehicle that the owners had reported stolen earlier. Smith and Rona Shae Avance, 24, of Powderly, were passengers in the car. Officers also found methamphetamine and arrested Smith for unauthorized motor vehicle use. They charged both Smith and Avance with possession of a controlled substance. Smith also had an outstanding parole violation warrant. Officers transferred both to the Lamar County Jail.

Paris Police responded to 180 calls for service and arrested 12 people over the weekend ending at midnight on Sunday (Jan 22).
