Paris Police Report for Monday July 3

Paris police attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 10 block of NW 19th but the driver failed to pull over and finally stopped in the 1800 block of West Houston. Joe Bob Clayton, 51, was arrested for fleeing. Clayton, however, resisted arrest and was later found in possession of methamphetamine. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Paris police responded to a disturbance in the 500 block of Bonham and were told that a known suspect had allegedly swerved his vehicle in an attempt to strike a toddler with the vehicle. The child was not hit or injured. The suspect left prior to police arrival and remained at large.

Officers are investigating a theft complaint in the 2600 block of N Main in Paris. They were told by a woman that as she was walking down the street, she was approached from behind by a black male who grabbed her purse and fled on foot.  The suspect was described as 5’11”, 150lbs, with short hair, white shoes, blue shirt, and blue jean pants.
