Paris Police Report For Monday (Mar 06)

Sunday morning at 9:57, an officer was working a criminal trespass from another location with a female in the 200-block of NW 27th. She informed the officer that her husband had just killed a cat in the 1900 block of Walker Street. She said she witnessed him strike a cat with a broom over and over again. Later, the suspect denied the allegation. Another caller confirmed a cat firmly fitting the description was alive and appearing un-injured sitting on the house rooftop. A thorough investigation of Cruelty Non-Livestock Animals: Kill/Poison/Serious Bodily Injury will be made.

Taryn Leigh Blalock

At 2:10 Sunday afternoon, police took Taryn Leigh Blalock, 37, of Paris, into custody and charged her with Possession of Controlled Substance-Meth, Synthetic Marijuana K-2, and Marijuana of Fewer than two ounces. They transferred her to the Lamar County Jail after a traffic stop for a defective brake light violation in the 10-block of SW 11th Street, where she gave a consensual search of the vehicle and a purse.

Detectives are investigating an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon after Patrol Officers responded to Paris Regional Health Center at 8:41 Sunday night. They met with a 19-year-old victim whom caregivers were treating for a shotgun wound to her upper thigh area. The victim stated that she had heard yelling in her apartment complex in the 300 block of Stone Avenue and had stepped out in front of her door to see what was happening. She heard a gunshot and realized a bullet had hit her. The victim was treated and released from the hospital. Officers have not identified a suspect.

The Paris Police Department responded to 194 Calls for Service and arrested 12 people ending Sunday (Mar 05).
