On Monday, there was a disturbance in the 1400 block of NE 27th. Officers learned that a male subject at the residence had made threats of self-harm. They also discovered that the male subject was a felon and had a firearm. Officers performed a consent search of the accused vehicle and located body armor and ammunition within the vehicle, which is illegal for a felon to possess. Officers later discovered a handgun inside the residence shared by the accused and his partner. They quelled the disturbance, and the case is under investigation.
An officer responded to a Burglary of Habitation Monday in the 400 block of SW 13th. The victim, who was living in an RV at that location, advised that an unknown person had entered their RV through a possibly unsecured front door and stolen shoes and prescription medications. The victim said the theft occurred in the past two days and was unsure who might have committed the crime. Officers collected evidence, and the investigation is ongoing.
On Monday, the owner reported a firearm theft in the 1100 block of SE 3rd St. The victim advised that he had loaned a handgun to a family member who lived at the address, as mentioned earlier. The family member had expired, and another known family member had cleaned out the property of all items, including his handgun. The victim has asked for the handgun, but the person will not discuss it with him. The handgun was entered into TCIC/NCIC as stolen, and the case is under investigation.
For this reporting period, officers made 10 traffic stops, arrested one adult, and answered 80 calls for service.
