Officers arrested Gary Wayne Pool, 44, of Sumner, last Friday morning at the Lamar County Probation office on two felony warrants. He is currently on probation for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault of a family member with previous convictions. Officers booked Pool and transferred him to the Lamar County Jail.

Last Friday afternoon, police worked on an assault in the 300-block of SE 19th St. The 40-year-old victim reported that her 41-year-old husband had assaulted her the previous night. The victim said he had struck her with a vehicle her husband was driving and hit her with a baseball bat during an argument. The incident is under investigation.

Aaron Wade Shannon

Aaron Wade Shannon, 28, of Paris, was observed walking in the 1100 block of SE 15th St last Sunday afternoon and was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant. The felony warrant charged Shannon with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The warrant stemmed from an incident in July 2022 where Shannon struck a person in the head with a small baseball bat. Shannon also had a Municipal Court warrant. He was booked and placed in the city jail and is waiting for a transfer to the Lamar County Jail.

Paris Police responded to 273 calls for service and arrested 16 people over the holiday weekend ending at midnight on Monday (Jan 16).
