Paris Police Report For Wednesday (Jan 18)

Paris Police spoke with the victim of fraud at 3:42 Tuesday afternoon in the 1300 block of NE Loop 286. The victim reported that someone had forged two checks on their business account that totaled over $13,000. The incident is under investigation.

Paris Police spoke with the victim of credit/debit card abuse Tuesday afternoon at 4:16. A known person had obtained their debit card and had used it on at least three occasions to withdraw money from their account. The incidents are under investigation.

Shane Michell Cooper

Paris Police arrested Shane Michell Cooper, 42, of Bogata, Tuesday night at 7:06 in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue. Cooper removed items from the store’s shelves and returned them to the store as if he had purchased them. When the officer reviewed his criminal history, they learned that Cooper had at least one other conviction for theft, so they enhanced this charge to a felony. Officers booked Cooper and transferred him to the Lamar County Jail.

Paris Police responded to 84 calls for service and arrested four people on Tuesday (Jan 17).
