Paris Junior College students will conduct the pledge of allegiance and national anthem. After a welcome, Dr. Kenneth Haley will recite, “In Flander’s Field.” Audience members will be welcomed to share recitations about their family members who served.
Dr. Haley will read names of PJC students lost in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. A wreath ceremony will be performed by current PJC student veterans Nora Hernandez and Matthew Rozell, concluding with the playing of “Taps.”
The Red River Valley Veterans Memorial will host Veterans Day ceremonies tomorrow beginning at 10:45. The featured speaker will be Robert Riggs, who was a reporter embedded with soldiers in the Iraq War. A new monument at the Memorial will be unveiled at this year’s ceremonies. The unveiling is expected to take place at noon.
VFW Post 3990 will have their Veterans Day ceremonies at 6:00 pm Saturday. Music from the revolutionary war days through today will be performed by Shannon Jones.
