Pedestrian Killed In Van Zandt County Hit And Run

At 7:30 Saturday evening, Troopers responded to a fatal crash on SH 198, approximately 4.3 miles southwest of Canton in Van Zandt County. Preliminary information indicates that the driver of a vehicle was traveling north on SH 198 and struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The driver then fled the scene. They identified the pedestrian as Steven Lynn Chambless, 58, of Canton. Chambless was pronounced at the scene by Judge Sandra Plaster pronounced Chambless at the scene, and they took him to Eubanks Funeral Home in Canton. It is an active investigation, and they will release more information as soon as it is available.
