Penalty Phase Of Morrison Murder Re-Trial Begins Today In Lamar County

Jury selection is slated to begin today for the punishment phase of the re-trial of 22-year-old Ashley Morrison, of Paris, who has already pleaded guilty to her role in the murder of her ex-boyfriend’s grandmother, Annie Sims of Powderly. Sims was a retired North Lamar teacher. Morrison was sentenced to 30 years in prison during her first trial, but that was overturned by the Sixth Court of Appeals in Texarkana, and a new trial was ordered.
