Pewitt Battles For State Title Tonight Plus Dak Nursing Sore Shoulder In Today’s Sports Update

Tonight the Paul Pewitt Brahmas will take on the Gunter Tigers for the 3A Division II state championship at AT&T Stadium. Both teams come into tonight’s contest with a 14-1 record. Pewitt Coach Triston Abron says the Tigers are very good and that he hopes the Brahmas’ size can be a difference-maker. You can hear the game on Star 96.9 and online at easttexasradio.com. Pre-game is at 6:30 pm with Kickoff slated for 7:00 pm.

Dallas only scored 18 points in the third quarter and that was enough for Boston to take control of the game as they beat the Mavericks 109-103. Kristaps Porzingas scores 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Dallas, who played without Luka Doncic again. Doncic sprained his ankle against Miami last Saturday. Dallas will be on the road to play Philadelphia Friday night. Dallas’ game with San Antonio on Dec 26th has been moved from 7:30 to 7:00 pm. The game will be broadcast nationally on TNT.

The Oklahoma Sooners will be without at least three players for their College Football Playoff semifinal game against LSU at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 28 because of suspensions. It wasn’t immediately clear if the players — starting defensive end Ronnie Perkins, running back Rhamondre Stevenson and receiver Trejan Bridges — would also miss the CFP National Championship on Jan. 13 if the No. 4 Sooners defeat the No. 1 Tigers in their semifinal game.

Herman Boone, the Virginia high school football coach who inspired the 2000 film “Remember the Titans,” has died. He was 84.Boone, portrayed by Denzel Washington in the movie, guided T.C. Williams High School to a state championship while navigating the early days of desegregation.
