On Friday, November 9, students at Paris High School partnered to offer a first-time experience for many students: Attending the Beaver’s Bend Folk Festival at Beaver’s Bend State Park in Oklahoma. Students from the Low Incidence Diagnostic Services (LIDS) classroom paired with Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) students for this cultural experience.
TAFE students learned some of the challenges and experienced the fun of working with a diverse group of students who have various needs. All enjoyed the time together experiencing the folk culture, watching craftsmen design and create their various crafts and enjoying the beauty of fall in on our nation’s beautiful state parks. Above all, the two groups have made lasting friendships and hope they have started a tradition for years to come.
