Pittsburg-Camp Chamber

Greetings Pittsburg-Camp County Chamber Members and Supporters

A lot of events are coming up in the next few weeks! See below for all of the details. As always, if you have an upcoming event, you would like included in a future email, please let me know.

Upcoming Events:

The Pittsburg Fire Department is holding a fundraiser Saturday (Apr 28) to raise money to purchase a new set of battery powered rescue tools (jaws of life). We have decided to buy these tools because they will help us do a faster and more productive job on a wreck scene. We are serving hamburgers and hotdogs at the fire station for $7.00 per plate, starting at 11:00 a.m. There will be a demonstration of the tools at 2:00 p.m. and a cake auction at 4:00 p.m. There will be a bounce house for the kids.

First Responder Appreciation Celebration
Join the Pittsburg Masonic Lodge, Frank Sexton Lodge No. 206, in honoring our Camp County First Responders on Friday (Apr 27) at 5:30 p.m. on the Camp County courthouse lawn. The boy scouts will be on hand to present colors, and the Pittsburg HS Band will play the National Anthem. A short presentation will follow.

The Camp County Classic Car Club will be hosting a Classic Car Show and Drive-In at Herschel’s in Pittsburg on Thursday (Apr 26) from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The entry fee is $5. Entertainment provided by Dale Cummings. For questions, please call Bill Miller at 903-767-7479.

The Pittsburg Rodeo is just around the corner. Come on out to the Rodeo Mother’s Day weekend, May 10-12 for an evening of fun for the entire family. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for 12 and under and they are available at the gate. Free night is Thursday (May 10). The Rodeo begins each night at 7:30 p.m.

The Pittsburg Rodeo Association will host its annual Handicapable Rodeo on May 11 at 9:00 a.m. This rodeo, intended for children with special needs, includes lunch and offers horseback riding, mechanical bull riding, calf roping, hay rides, games, music and more. Each attendee receives a goody bag. Businesses and clubs interested in donating goody bag items or hosting an “activity” booth at the event should contact Colt Hall at 903-767-7399.

The 2018 Peach Queen contest and pageant is just around the corner. At this time, we are beginning to acquire names of prospective participants. If you know of a young lady currently in her Junior year of high school who might be interested, please contact James Wallace at 903-856-1111 no later than May 1 for an application. The contestants will begin selling tickets and raising funds June 2 for a four week period.
