Who loves Golden Chick?  Mayor Shawn Kennington of course!

A crowd gathered at Bistro Nuef 9 on Friday evening to help owner Anna Wertenbrach and her partner Kulwant Atwal celebrate their grand opening. Business leaders and community supporters were on hand to wish Anna success in this new Venture. Bistro Neuf 9, located at 123 Quitman Street, features French home-style country cooking made with fresh ingredients.

Letters to the North Pole!

Wow! We had no idea the North Pole Mailbox would be so popular. Over the past few weeks, volunteers have answered over 650 letters to Santa. It’s been a lot of work but such a joy as well. At times we’ve laughed until we cried. Kids are so sincere. We thought you might enjoy excerpts from letters we’ve received.

“This year I have been nice to everybody at school, but not home. I’m really rude to my sisters. I am really nice at school. How am I rude to them? I hit them. I’m nice at school, I help people get up, and sometimes I help teachers….”

“Dear Santa – I’ve been bad. I always mess up things…”

“Dear Santa – Hello. I’m like a dog, it messes up sometimes….”

“Dear Old Fuzey (sic) Face….”

“Dear Santa – Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Are you sleepy on Christmas? Are you friends with God?…”

“Dear Santa – Have you ever seen a beluga whale?…”

“Santa, I want a Christmas wish. The Christmas wish is for kids who can’t afford toys that you can take them some…”

And please say a special prayer for this child.
“Dear Santa – All I want for Christmas is to see my mom again. I miss her.”

Santa’s elves answered hundreds of letters.
