They would help move furniture, setup scenes, etc. It would be a volunteer position but a cool way to get some behind the scenes looks or experience. If interested, please contact me. Film dates are as follows: Saturday (Apr 30), Sunday (May 1), Saturday (May 7), Sunday (May 8) and possibly the weekend of Saturday (May 14).

The New Boston Chapter 0862 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) will host the Annual District One Convention on Tuesday (Apr 26) in Pittsburg. The New Boston NARFE affiliate covers retired federal employees from northeast Texas counties including Camp County, Titus, Morris, Cass and Bowie County. District One includes affiliates from Dallas through East Texas. The meeting will be held at the Douglass Community Center in Pittsburg.
Our meeting will start at 9:00 am and end around 2:30 pm. We are encouraging attendees to be prepared to explore Pittsburg antique stores and eateries after the meeting. We expect from 35-50 registrants to attend. If anyone has a coupon or a small giveaway item that they would like to give us for our welcome bags, it would be much appreciated. Please drop items off with at the Chamber. We are looking forward to showing Pittsburg off to these retirees!

National Nurses Week is from Friday through Thursday (May 6-12). This time gives us the opportunity to acknowledge, appreciate and give back to Nurses for the incredible work they do every day. Pittsburg Nursing Center, Hospice Plus, The Drug Store, Southern Wind Assisted Living & Premier Home Health are teaming together to provide all Camp County Nurses with a free lunch on May 6th. We are asking all of the local businesses if they would like to take advantage of this opportunity to thank a Camp County Nurse by donating a door prize. All door prizes will be given out to these fine professionals through out the day. If you find it in your heart to participate, please contact Ashley Jordan at 903-563-1104 or Ashley Hong at 903-946-4547 and we will pick up your donation. We thank you in advance for your wide community support.

AREA GARAGE SALES! Are you planning a yard sale soon? Wait! Every year Pittsburg, Avinger, Daingerfield, Omaha, Naples and, Hughes Springs team up to bring you East Texas Treasure Trails. We will publicize the event in local media, websites and Newsletters. We will even supply maps at each Chamber of Commerce. This year’s Treasure Trails will be Friday through Saturday (May 13-14). Contact your local chamber and be included on the Maps.
East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) operates a year-round Senior Nutrition Program, which provides daily nutritious hot lunchtime home-delivered and congregate meals (dining locations for meals, socialization, and public education) to residents who are sixty (60) years of age or older within the 14 counties in the East Texas region. Meals are delivered to homebound clients, by paid staff and volunteers, to clients’ homes. The number of on-site meal locations may be adjusted during the contract; however, it is anticipated that a winning proposer will increase the number of congregate sites available for seniors. The Department of Health and Human Services Administration on Aging’s vision for older people determine the areas. The Older Americans Act embodies the concept that of American value that dignity is inherent to all individuals in our democratic society. Also, the belief that seniors should have the opportunity to participate fully in all aspects of society and community life, be able to maintain their health and independence, and remain in their homes and communities for as long as possible. The Area Agency on Aging (AAA) may elect to award more than one contract per program (congregate, home-delivered), per function (administration, delivery and meal preparation), per county. If bidding on separate functions, co-proposals are strongly encouraged to ensure continuation of services. The AAA does not intend to award a contract entirely by any response made to the proposal. AAA reserves the right to consider proposals for modifications at any time before awarding a contract. Negotiations come with that Proposer whose proposal is deemed to meet best AAA’s specifications and needs. It is the intention of the AAA to award the contract based on a plan that is the most advantageous to the East Texas region.

Thanks, Have a Great weekend!
