PJC Athletes Received NJCAA Academic Achievement Awards; Baseball Team Ranked Second Nationally

A total of 26 Paris Junior College student-athletes from five teams were recently named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) academic honors.

The Dragon baseball team was second in the nation with a GPA of 3.61 with 17 players receiving Academic All-American honors.

“NJCAA Region XIV is one of the toughest in the country, and we are consistently competitive. We are proud of our student-athletes and teams, but prouder of their academic achievement,” said PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin. “We expect our student-athletes to put their studies first and athletics second so that they can achieve both their educational and athletic goals.”

NJCAA’s All-Academic honors are divided into three categories: First Team members have a 4.00 GPA; Second Team have between a 3.80 to 3.99 GPA, and Third-Team members have between a 3.60 to 3.79-GPA.

The first team included baseball players John Altman, Jonathan Carrillo, Cody Morrow, Eric Wimpee, Michael Williams; and women’s basketball player Leigh Westbrook.

Second team members from PJC are baseball players Aaron Beaulaurier, Trevor Blackshear; softball player Katie Cullum and women’s soccer player Rubi Soto.

Third team members from PJC include baseball players Connor Anderson, Kros Bay, Jacob Coats, Zachary Diaz, Levi Dixon, Tyler Mendoza, Tyler Myers, Foster Pace, Matt Solomon, Ryan Tackett; men’s soccer players Joshua Baffoe, Noe Jimenez Ricardo Vidal; softball players Breanne Smallwood and Brianna Gibbons, and women’s soccer player Chelsey Walker.
