PJC Players Sign with 4-Year School Plus Mavs Eliminated

Paris – A pair of PJC Lady Dragon basketball players have signed with 4-year universities to continue their collegiate careers. Tiffany Murdock will be headed to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff while Kierra Smith signs with Missouri Southern State University.

The North Lamar Panthers pull off an upset win 8-5 over the Pleasant Grove Hawks. The Panthers can grab a share of the district title with a win tonight in Pittsburg and a Pleasant Grove loss to Liberty Eylau. The Paris Wildcats are playoff bound as well, tonight on 101.9 KBUS they’ll wrap up the regular season when they host the Atlanta Rabbits at 7:30. And last night the Prairiland Patriots fall to Redwater 10-3.

Mount Pleasant – High school baseball looks to wrap up district play this week while the softball playoffs get underway this weekend. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers will host Marshall tonight at O. L. Colley Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm. The Lady Tigers will take on Whitehouse in the bi-district round of the post season. Game one is Thursday at 6:30 at LeTourneau University. Games two and game three if necessary will be played Friday. Pittsburg softball begins a three game series with Bullard. Hughes Springs will do the same against New Boston. Both series begin on Thursday, while Paul Pewitt takes on Redwater on Friday.

The Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers play a tie breaker for the districts number 2 seed. The winner will take on DeKalb in the bi-district round this weekend, The loser plays Hooks. First pitch tonight is at 6:30.

Sulphur Springs – A trio of Sulphur Springs Wildcats will be making the trip to Arlington this weekend for the regional track and field meet. Jacob Gatewood dominated a pair of events winning the 3,200 meter run and the 1,600 meter run. Abbigael Baier added a pair of gold medals winning the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. While Imani Taylor brings home a silver medal in the long jump. In high school baseball the Wildcats will host the Longview Lobos beginning at 7pm. Sulphur Springs baseball is 5-7 on the season. The Lady Cats will open up post season play this weekend against Corsicana in the bi-district round.

Last night in the NBA the Dallas Mavericks see their season come to an end after last night’s 118-104 loss to Oklahoma City. Dirk Nowitzki finished the year out with a 24 point performance. The Mavs drop the opening round playoff series four games to one.

In Major League Baseball the Texas Rangers drop the first game of the series to the Yankees 3-1. The lone Ranger run came on a Brett Nichols home run. The Rangers now fall to 10-10 in the AL West. Texas and New York are back on the diamond tonight [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm]. First pitch is at 7:05.

And the U.S. Appeals courts has ordered that the NFL impose it’s four game suspension on New England Patriots Quarterback, Tom Brady, for his involvement in the infamous deflate gate scandal in 2014.
