Pontotoc County Inmate Murdered

The OSBI is investigating the death of a Pontotoc County jail  inmate, who died of injuries he received in a fight with another inmate. Forty-two-year-old Billy Joe Johnson  was severely injured after an altercation with 22-year-old Kalup Allen Born earlier this month and died Christmas Eve. Authorities say Johnson was allegedlyl kicked at least 27 times as he was leaving the shower.  Born is awaiting trial on a dozen charges related to the kidnapping and murder of a 70-year-old woman in 2017.
