The U.S. Justice Department announced that the court sentenced a Pontotoc County man to 87 months in federal prison for sexual abuse of a minor. Court documents show that 33-year-old Nathan Dale Smith had abused a girl under 16 for several years and later texted the girl’s mother to apologize. Smith is not eligible for parole.
