Pre-K And Kindergarten Registration Opens At North Lamar

North Lamar ISD’s Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten registration begins Monday, April 16 at W. L. Higgins and Aaron Parker Elementary for students entering school in the fall of 2018.  Parents of students may fill out the necessary paperwork at each campus from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Pre-registration will go through April 27.

          Parents registering their pre-k child at Higgins will need to bring verification of family income and be aware that their child must have midday transportation. The child must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2018, and meet the following list of criteria: unable to speak and comprehend the English language; or from a family whose income qualifies the child to receive free or reduced lunches; or homeless; or be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or if the child has ever been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing.

          A student registering for kindergarten must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2018.  Parents are reminded to bring the child’s birth certificate, immunization record, and social security card.  If applicable, proof of residence in the North Lamar school district and custody papers will be needed.

Higgins Elementary serves Early Childhood through first grade and Parker Elementary serves Head Start through fifth grade.

As a special incentive for early enrollment at Higgins, four $100 Walmart gift cards will be given away in a drawing for those bringing and completing ALL paperwork by April 27.
