Prosecutors Not Seeking Death Penalty Against Accused East Texas Pastor’s Killer

The Smith County District Attorney’s Office announced they will not seek the death sentence for the man accused of killing Pastor Mark McWilliams three years ago at Starrville Methodist Church in Winona. Mytrez Deunte Woolen, 24, is Charged with Capital Murder. DA Jacob Putman said  Woolen has a “verified mental illness,” and is not eligible for the death penalty.
