The Public Utility Commission and Electric Reliability Council of Texas said their models show a possible supply shortage in “extreme summer conditions” and warned of potential brownouts. The warning was not about the stability of the power grid. It’s instead what regulators call a shortage of “dispatchable energy” or power that is brought online with short notice. Most dispatchable power comes from natural gas plants.
