Rangers Come Back to Beat Rockies Plus HS Volleyball

Paris – Area volleyball teams play their season openers night. The North Lamar Pantherettes begin the season against Sherman and Sulphur Springs in Sulphur Springs at 4pm. The Paris Lady Cats have a dual meet against Denison and Whitesboro at Whitesboro beginning at 4:30. The Prairiland Lady Patriots host Pleasant Grove starting at 4:30 and the Chisum Lady Mustangs are on the road at James Bowie at 4pm.

Mount Pleasant – Area volleyball teams play their season openers tonight. The Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers play their first game at home against Maud. Matches begin at 7. The Chapel Hill Lady Devils host Pittsburg at 7 as well. Mt. Vernon will host New Boston at 5 and Paul Pewitt host the Clarksville Lady Tigers at 7.

Sulphur Springs – Area volleyball teams play their season openers tonight. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats host Sherman and North Lamar at Wildcat Gym to kick off the season. Matches begin at 4pm this afternoon. North Hopkins is on the road at Roxton at 5pm. Mt. Vernon will host New Boston at 5 and Cumby will visit Commerce at 6. And Miller Grove will be in action on Thursday at Chisum high school.

Last night the Texas Rangers pick up an epic come from behind victory over the Colorado Rockies 4-3. Trailing by two runs in the 9th, Elvis Andrus plated a pair of runs with a single to tie things up. Then Mitch Moreland put Texas ahead for good with an RBI double. The Rangers remain in 1st place in the AL west at 66-47. Texas and Colorado play another at Coors Field this afternoon before playing a pair at Globe Life Park. In Rio, team USA adds more gold to the medal count and continues to dominate in group play in basketball. The men’s hoops team defeated Venezuela 113-69 while the women’s team won over Spain 103-63. Both teams are in the preliminary rounds. Meanwhile, American Ryan Murphy wins gold while setting an Olympic record in the 100m backstroke with a time of 51.97 seconds. Lilly King also wins gold and sets a new games record in the 100m breaststroke at 1:04.93. The U.S. lead the games with 19 medals and are tied with China with 5 gold.

And the Dallas Cowboys continue training camp in Oxnard, California. Dallas is scheduled to play their first pre-season game at Los Angeles Coliseum when they meet the new LA Rams on Saturday. Kick-off [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 7pm.
