The Texas Rangers were off last night, as were the Houston Astros. Meaning Texas still holds a 3.5 game lead for first place in the AL West. The Rangers will be back on the field tonight when they take on the Royals in Kansas City, who spent their off day yesterday at the White House being honored for their 2015 championship. It’ll be Yu Darvish on the hill with a 2-1 record and a 3.15 ERA. KC will send Danny Duffy to the mound. First pitch this evening [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:15pm Central Time.

The league has decided to move the 2017 NBA All-Star game from Charlotte due to anti-LBGTQ law HB2 passed in North Carolina. The move was lead by league Commissioner Adam Silver and has garnered split reactions. Many players, including Steph Curry who grew up in Charlotte, along with Kevin Durant say they understand the move and there should be no room in our country for discrimination. The league is currently looking for an alternate venue and will make an announce in the following weeks.

Houston Texans Defensive End, J. J. Watt, has undergone successful back surgery for the second time in 2016. Watt, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, is expected to be ready for the regular season, but will start the upcoming Texans training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Watt has never missed a regular season game in his career and is also expected to sit out the Pre-Season. On his career, Watt has collected nearly 75 sacks, including 17.5 last season.

The countdown to Dallas Cowboys training camp continues. In six days, the Cowboys will arrive in Oxnard, California. Camp will officially begin on July 30th
