Last night the Texas Rangers were throttled 10-1 at the hands of the Minnesota Twins, the team with the worst record in the American League. With the loss the Rangers fall to 53-34, but remain 6.5 games ahead of the Houston Astros, who lost to Oakland. Yesterday at Wimbledon, one Williams sister advances to the finals while another is eliminated. Top ranked Serena Williams defeated Elena Vesnina in a quick two set match, 6-2, and 6-0. While 4th ranked Angelique Kerber beat Venus Williams in two sets, each with a 6-4 score. The men’s semi-finals are underway this morning. 3rd ranked Roger Federer and 6th ranked Milos Raonic began at 7am this morning. At 9:30 this morning 2nd ranked Andy Murray will take on number 10 Tomas Berdych.
In the Euro Championships France advances to the finals with a 2-0 victory over Germany. Antoine Griezmann netted both goals for the French, including a penalty kick in added time in the first half. On Sunday France will take on Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal in the championship match beginning at 2pm.
And UFC 200 was shaken up after Jon “Bones” Jones tested positive for a banned substance. The fight with Daniel Cormier was initially going to be cancelled, until UFC president, Dana White, announced Anderson Silva would fight in place of Jones. Going up against Cormier, it’ll be the first time Silva will go into a fight as an underdog in 10 years.
