Rangers Lose One in the Sun Plus Smith Great in Mavs Summer Finale

 

Shin-Soo Choo loses a fly ball in the sun in right field with two outs in the 9th allowing the winning run to cross the plate, dooming the Rangers to a 4-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Despite dropping the series finale, the Rangers still take two out of three. Texas won the first two games, 5-3 and 1-0 and crawl back to one game under .500. Next up, a trip to Camden Yards for a four game set against the Baltimore Orioles. Andrew Cashner will take the mound.  First pitch tonight [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 6:05.
The Dallas Mavericks comeback against the Lakers in the NBA Summer League Semi-Finals falls short, 108-98.  Dallas trailed by as many as 26 in the game, but stormed back and at one point cut the lead down to one. Rookie point guard, Dennis Smith Jr. lead the Mavs with 21 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals. Lonzo Ball of the Lakers notched a 16 point, ten assist double-double before going to the bench in the third quarter as an injury precaution.
For the eighth time, the most in men’s Wimbledon history, Roger Federer is crowned champion. The victory moves Federer past Pete Sampras and Williams Renshaw, who both won seven All England Club titles. Federer defeats Marin Cilic in three sets Sunday. At 35 years old, Federer also becomes the oldest Wimbledon Champion on his way to collecting his second grand slam title of the year. He joins Bjorn Borg in 1976 as the only champion Wimbledon champion to not drop a single set in the tournament.
Houston Texans rookie running back and former Texas Longhorn, D’Onta Foreman, was arrested over the weekend in Austin on possession of marijuana and unlawful carry of a weapon. Foreman’s lawyer stated the 2016 Doak Walker award winner was legal to carry his firearm and claimed the marijuana did not belong to Foreman.
