Paris – Last night in high school football action the Honey Grove Warriors fall to Blue Ridge 19-14 and drop to 1-2 on the season. Tonight the Paris Wildcats welcome in Sulphur Springs to Wildcat Stadium. Hear the action on 101.9 KBUS with pre-game starting at 7pm. The North Lamar Panthers are at RL Maddox Stadium as they host Greenville. Pre-game on MIX 107.7 begins at 7 as well. And our KOYN Game of the week will feature the Chisum Mustangs against Bells. Mount Pleasant – Area football teams are back in action tonight. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers play their home opener at Sam Parker Field against Sherman on K LAKE 97.7. Kickoff is at 7pm. The Star Country game of the week will feature the Paul Pewitt Brahmas against the Hughes Springs Mustangs on 96.9. The Pittsburg Pirates look to remain unbeaten when they host Henderson. Kickoff is at 7:30. Daingerfield will be on the road against New Boston. Mt. Vernon travels to Hooks. Rivercrest is at Trenton. And the Gilmer Buckeyes will be in Argyle to play Liberty Christian.

Sulphur Springs – Area teams will be back in action tonight for week 3 of the Texas high school football season. On Star Country 95.9, the Sulphur Springs Wildcats visit the Paris Wildcats. Sulphur Springs and Paris each sport a 1-1 record on the season. Kick off on Star 95.9 is at 7:30. Mt. Vernon travels to Hooks. Cooper will be at Callisburg. Greenville takes on North Lamar in Paris. Como Pickton visits Hawkins. Rains will go to Farmersville and Winnsboro hosts Prairiland.

The Texas Rangers drop three of four to the Seattle Mariners, including a 6-3 loss in last night’s series finale. Ian Desmond homered in the loss. The Rangers are now 83-58 on the season and remain 8.5 games ahead of Houston in the AL West. Today is Darvish Day as the Rangers stay on the west coast tonight against the LA Angels. The NFL season began last night with a Super Bowl rematch, but with the same result as the Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers 21-20.

On Sunday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys play their season opener against the New York Giants. Dallas will start a pair of rookies in the backfield with 4th round quarterback, Dak Prescott starting. Behind him with be the 4th overall pick in the draft, running back Ezekiel Elliott. Dez Bryant and Lance Dunbar look for strong returns from an injury plagued 2015 season, while Byron Jones and Sean Lee anchor a defense with lots of question marks.
