Rangers Magic Number 8 Plus FC Dallas Wins Title

Paris – In a Lamar County duel the Paris Lady Cat volleyball team picks up a win over the Chisum Lady Mustangs in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-18, and 25-15. North Lamar falls in four sets to Melissa and Prairiland defeated Pittsburg.
Week 4 of high school football kicks off Friday night.  It’s homecoming for the Paris Wildcats as they host Pittsburg on 101.9 KBUS.  The North Lamar Panthers travel to Pottsboro and be heard live on MIX 107.7. And for our KOYN Game of the Week, the Cooper Bulldogs look to get on track against a high powered Rivercrest Rebel team.  Games kick off at 7:30.
Mount Pleasant – Week 4 of high school football kicks off Friday night.  It’s Homecoming for the Mt. Pleasant Tigers as they welcome in Jacksonville on KLAKE 97.7.  The Pittsburg Pirates hit the road to visit the Paris Wildcats.  The game can be heard live on Star 96.9.  The Paul Pewitt Brahmas are at home against the New Boston Lions.  The Mt. Vernon Tigers host Ore City. The Hughes Springs Mustangs travel to take on Hooks.  The Daingerfield Tigers will be on the road against White Oak.  Rivercrest will be at Cooper.  And in a clash of 4A powerhouses, the Gilmer Buckeyes travel to Carthage. Games kick off at 7:30.
Sulphur Springs – Week 4 of high school football kicks off Friday night.  It’s Homecoming at Prim Stadium where the Sulphur Springs Wildcats host Whitehouse.  The game will be carried on Star 95.9.  Cumby looks to stay unbeaten at home against Trenton.  Mt. Vernon hosts Ore City.  Cooper welcomes Rivercrest to Bulldog Stadium.  Emory Rains is at home against Spring Hill.  Como-Pickton hits the road to take on Overton.  Winnsboro will be in Gladewater to face Sabine and the Commerce Tigers host Bullard. All games kick off at 7:30.
Last night the Texas Rangers come from behind to win again, 3-2 over the Houston Astros.  Trailing by one run in the 9th, Elvis Andrus drove in the tying run. Followed by Jurickson Profar driving in the winning run.  The magic number is down to eight as Texas goes for the sweep of the Astros tonight at Minute Maid Park.  First pitch tonight [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:10pm.
The Dallas Cowboys play their second NFC Division game to begin the 2016 season when they travel to Washington Sunday afternoon.  Kick off [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for noon.
FC Dallas have completed step one of their quest for “the treble” – and ended a 19-year trophy drought in the process. Paced by a dominant display from playmaker Mauro Diaz, the North Texas side bested the New England Revolution 4-2 at a sold-out Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on Tuesday evening, capturing the club’s second Lamar Hunt US Open Cup trophy.

And group play in the UEFA Champions League began yesterday. Lionel Messi had a hat trick in a 7-nil Barcelona win over Celtic.  Bayern Munich beat Rostov 5-nil. And Arsenal draws with Paris Saint-Germain 1-1.
