790Athletics Rangers Baseball

Last night the Texas Rangers lose the rubber match with Oakland 6-4.  Starting pitcher, Yu Darvish, collected a no decision while tossing six innings, giving up two runs on four hits and striking out six. Despite the solid outing, the Rangers fall to 58-44 on the season, but remain in first place in the AL West, 2.5 games ahead of the Astros.  The Kansas City Royals come to town tonight.  Cole Hamels will take the rock tonight [on kplt 1490am and 96.3fm]. first pitch is at 7:05.

Prior to last night’s game, Texas was involved in a three player trade that sent minor league prospect Travis Demeritte to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for starting pitcher Lucas Harrell and reliever Dario Alvarez.

The Dallas Cowboys finally arrive today in Oxnard, California as they prepare to begin training camp this weekend. Notable headlines going into camp have a mixture of positive and negative. Cowboys 1st round draft pick, Ezekiel Elliott playing behind the Cowboys line, Romo, Dez and Orlando Scandrick all healthy, as well as question marks reguarding who will step up in place of three suspended starters on defense.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are facing a fine of $250,000 from the league for having three players suspended at the same time. The policy for the fine was put in place to discourage teams from acquiring players who have a history of violating the league rules.
And the 98th PGA Championship begins this morning at Baltusrol Country Club in New Jersey. It’s the first time since 1968 that two major championships have been played in the same month, when Henrick Stenson won The Open Championship earlier in July.
