The Texas Rangers drop their fourth straight game, losing to Baltimore last night 10-2. The Rangers got on the board with a Joey Gallo big fly in the 5th inning. Adrian Beltre added a hit to bring his career total to 2,983, 17 away from 3,000. The Rangers fall to 45-49 on the season, 17.5 games behind the AL West leading Astros and 3.5 games out of a Wildcard spot. Texas will try to avoid the sweep tonight at Camden Yards. Dallas Police have suspended an alleged assault case against Cowboys running back, Ezekiel Elliott, citing a lack of witnesses and inability to contact the victim. Sunday night at Clutch Bar in Dallas a DJ, known as D-Train, was struck in the face breaking his nose. Elliott was present at the bar, but evidently, no one, including the victim, saw who threw the punch. The Cowboys leave Saturday for training camp in Oxnard, California.
The United States Men’s National Soccer Team netted two first half goals to shut out El Salvador, 2-0, in the Gold Cup Quarterfinals. Omar Gonzalez scored the opening goal for team USA in the 41st minute. Eric Lichaj found the back of the net in added time just before the break. The U.S. and Costa Rica have punched their ticket to the semis. They’ll be joined by the winners of Jamaica\Canada and Mexico\Honduras.
And the Tour de France is coming down the stretch. Riders will travel through Briancon and Izoard at stage 18. Chris Froome continues to lead the way. The Tour concludes Sunday.
