The Texas High School Baseball State Tournament continues on. In Class 2A, Flatonia knocks off Beckville 7-1 to take the crown. West wins the 3A title with an 8-1 win over Van Alstyne. And Abilene Wylie defeats Salado 3-2 in the Class 4A championship. In the Class 5A Semi-Finals, Grapevine advances after beating Whitehouse 7-0. They’ll meet up with Alamo Heights, who beat College Station 5-2. The Class 5A state championship is tonight at 7pm. In Class 6A, Dallas Jesuit College Prep faces Langham Creek at noon, while San Antonio Johnson meets up with Amarillo at 3. The winners meet up tomorrow morning at 11:30am to wrap up the 2015-2016 athletic school year.
Yesterday afternoon the Texas Rangers take down the Houston Astros 5-3. Prince Fielder gave his team a big lift with a solo homer. The Rangers take three out of four games form the Astros and are now 37-23 on the season and in 1st place in the AL West. Texas begins a weekend series with Seattle today. The San Jose Sharks stick around a little while longer, beating Pittsburgh 4-2 in game five of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Tonight will be game four of the NBA finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, who lead the Cavs in the series 2-1. Tip off is at 8pm.
And in the Women’s College World Series, the Oklahoma Sooners take two out of three from Auburn to clinch the National Championship. The Sooner have won three softball national titles since the year 2000, last winning in 20-13.
